Understanding Endometriosis
Affects ~10% of reproductive-age women worldwide. A chronic inflammatory condition involving ectopic endometrial tissue growth. Emerging evidence links aberrant bacterial colonization—particularly by Fusobacterium nucleatum—to dysbiosis-driven inflammation and pain pathogenesis.

Clinical Insight
Emerging research shows that gut and reproductive microbiome dysbiosis may actively drive endometriosis progression through immune dysregulation and chronic inflammation.
Rule Out Infection First
Before assuming it's the whole picture
Pelvic pain, inflammation, and cycle-related symptoms attributed to endometriosis can sometimes be complicated — or driven — by an underlying infection that's never been properly evaluated. Most inflammatory conditions like this haven't had infectious causes ruled out, in part because standard Western blot and PCR testing often aren't sensitive enough to detect them.
Before assuming endometriosis is the whole picture, it's worth ruling out Lyme disease and coinfections with more sensitive testing.
